California Junior Lifeguard
The Junior Lifeguard Program meets 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday for 3 weeks. Kids will learn ocean safety, rescue techniques, first aid, and CPR. Recreational activities include swimming, surfing, bodyboarding and volleyball. Educational activities related to marine biology and oceanography are also offered.
In order to sign up, participants must demonstrate the ability to
- Tread water for 5 minutes
- Swim underwater for 10 yards
- Swim 100 yards in 2.5 minutes
Tryouts are held in various Orange County locations starting April 25, 2009.
