After School Care in Orange County

With so many families with two working parents, after school care is a must, and maybe even before and after school care. The childcare your kids attended during the summer may offer after school activities as well. If that’s not an option, check out some of these after school clubs that offer a sport or recreational activity.

Oftentimes you’ll find a good after school program right at your child’s school. Many of those offer homework help, and some may even offer tutoring after school.

After School Programs

School gets out around two or three o’clock, but parents don’t get off work until at least five. Fortunately there are plenty of before and after school programs available, at least for elementary school age children. Many after school clubs meet on site at the schools. This makes it easy for the kids to get to and from class. It also simplifies detention, after school meetings and other scheduling issues.

Childcare for School Agers

If you have childcare that worked before your child started Kindergarten, there’s no reason it can’t work now, as long as there’s transportation to and from school. A family day care within walking distance of the elementary school, for example, would be perfect. It will also help ease the transition to school.

After School Activities

Most after school programs include general activities that suit everyone. Kids arrive, have a snack, have time to do homework and can play with friends, either inside or outside. Some offer homework help or tutoring. If you want to sign your child up for a specific activity after school, like chess, science or soccer, it’s going to be more difficult unless you can arrange transportation. Sometimes you’ll get lucky, though, and the activity you want will be offered at your child’s school.
